Lesson 5: Safe and Unsafe Secrets

Lesson 5 introduces the important concept of Safe and Unsafe Secrets. In this lesson, the students will learn that a Safe Secret is one that eventually is told and that makes everyone happy. An Unsafe Secret is one that makes you feel confused, “icky” or scared and that you are told not to share. Students will discuss different scenarios and decide which involve Safe Secrets and which involve Unsafe Secrets.

Materials Needed:

-Safe and Unsafe Secrets activity center for each student. -Their journals and a pencil. -Lesson 5 stickers. -Lesson 5 Parent letter to each student.

Secrets can be excited, especially when you are surprising someone for their birthday! Your students will learn the difference between secrets that are eventually told that will make everyone happy and secrets that don’t feel good and told not to share.
